C is for Christmas

Now let it be said...I love Christmas but it can be so stressful in the run up to the day. I'm all for simplifying the whole thing and I'm getting prepared slowly and methodically this year for the big day.  My Christmas gift list has shrunk considerably and the grandchildren will be getting cash and a token gift to open on the day.  I'm buying oddments as I find appropriate things.  The freezer will be topped up gradually, making the most of bargains as I find them and my Sainsbury's Nectar points are being saved for the food on Boxing Day, which I will be hosting for the family. No stress.......Fingers crossed 👍

Have you begun yet? All wrapped up? At the list stage? I'd love to know......

See you tomorrow ❤x

  1. We give money to most of our grandchildren, the youngest 3 mummy (daughter), has given us links to items for them. I am almost finished, I do like to be sorted before the rush starts.

    1. Me too, Marlene, it really reduces the stress level.

  2. I began some homemade gifts with great enthusiasm on October 1st, then got caught up in launching my online shop. But I DID make my cake yesterday.

    1. Oh wow, I do love handmade things. On which platform is your online shop?
Glad you like my card toppers, thank you! I'm not very good at cooking (or sewing) so my cake will be shop bought.

  3. I've got my cards out of their hiding place and checked how much wrapping paper I have - enough I think. Got most of granddaughter's presents, just need to buy her something to read and something to wear. Have a good week. Gill Xx

    1. Homemade is lovely, Elizabeth, as so much thought has usually gone into the gift. Well done for being organised!

  6. At the risk of sounding a right Grinch, we now buy hardly any presents, just a handful for a few people. We do make a donation to a chosen charity, which we told people a few years ago we'd rather do, they understood. I've not started making any Christmas cards yet, not really feeling it this year, too much misery going on in the world.

    1. I know what you mean about so much misery in the world Sooze. That is partly what floored me recently. I just don't understand how people can be so cruel to each other.
We've cut back massively on gifts and the recipients were more than happy to agree. It takes the pressure off so much. To me, Christmas is more about family time than expensive gifts. A nice meal, a glass of wine and some party games are enough :)

  7. I haven't really started thinking about Christmas yet but by the weekend I may need to make a start before it's suddenly Christmas Eve :-)
    Lovely cards x

  8. I am slowly getting ready for Christmas. Today I got the cards done, and will mail them tomorrow. Baking will start soon, and since the sons just get cash and a small gift that I have made (with plenty of love) we are pretty much done. I may sew up another pair of pj pants for Harvey as one has become so threadbare it will surely disintegrate the next time I wash them.

    God bless.

    1. Your family are so lucky to have you! I simply can't sew a straight seam. Home baking is so good though isn't it and the house smells wonderful too x

  9. We bought our first stocking filler on January 4th and picked up things throughout the year with the result that we have had only a few gaps to fill. We find that this takes the stress of both finding and paying for Christmas gifts away.

    1. That is such a good idea, Jessica. My problem is that I have so little storage space in the bungalow. We have cut down the number of gifts now massively, so it's no longer a mammoth task.

  10. It sounds like you are nicely organized for Christmas! I updated the list of people I give gifts to, yesterday. I have made some jam and chutney which will be given as gifts, but, I still need to get or make quite a few more gifts, over the next few weeks! Haven't made any cards, yet!
