I have received an email from Amazon explaining to me that after August 17th 2022 I will no longer be able to buy and download any books onto my 5th Generation kindle. I am so CROSS 😡 Yes, I know the thing is more than 10 years old but it suits me fine. I can buy cheap and sometimes get free books to download to read 'on the go'. I always took it on holiday with me ( when we were able to go) as it was light enough to slip into my bag so I am cross that someone else has decided for me that my kindle is no longer worth having. They do the same thing all the time with computers and phones, don't they. Our PC is fighting against the Windows 10 updates. It simply won't accept them and now I can't pull in emails properly either. We are hoping to take it in to PC world on Monday where a tech guy will look at it for us but we might eventually have to give in and buy the new PC which we can't really afford.
I'm also struggling to post comments on my favourite blogs via phone and tablet. They either post as anonymous or won't post at all so please bear with me for a while until we can get sorted.
Give me strength 😠.....
I need to stop and count our blessings don't I...... 🙄
We are grateful for:
Good food
A warm home
Family to talk to
Lovely weather with plenty of rain and sunshine to grow our crops at the allotment.
Stay safe everyone wherever in the world you happen to be x
I know what you mean. I had that problem with my last computer. I did upgrade, but would have rather kept the old one. Glad that you have all of those wonderful things that you listed.
ReplyDeleteFunny you should write this, I also have an old Kindle - it may be a 7, not sure, but I've lately been wondering if they'll stop accepting this for downloads in a while. If so I've decided to use another kind of tablet - all the apps on the Kindle drive me nuts as I don't use it for anything other than reading - it's a greedy world - anything to make money - what a wasteful lot some firms are. As you say, count your blessings - I also still buy books, real books, precious. Elaine UK
ReplyDeleteHi Elaine, I do agree that real books are much better than e readers. I only used my kindle for reading too....it didn't do much else to be honest which is another reason not to upgrade it. I'm sure your 7th Gen. one will be OK for another couple of years though. A greedy world indeed 🙄
DeleteThe old desktop computer that I used in the sewing/craft room gave up and since this laptop is about 5 years old, I wonder how much longer it will continue to work. I ended up purchasing a new ereader as I became so frustrated with my really ancient one no longer working. Hopefully this one lasts a long time.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I guess one needs to keep upgrading to newer equipment these days. I don't have a Kindle, but, I seem to be replacing laptops every couple of years!
ReplyDeleteI am sorry about your Kindle. So annoying when it works perfectly well for you. I hope the desktop can be sorted out or at least can hold on for a while longer for you.
