G chose a 6oz rump steak which came with chips, half a small grilled tomato and a few pea shoots 😬
He did decide to have dessert of apple and toffee tart with custard but I declined......
The bill was a shocking £29.35. Two courses used to be £10 but have rocketed by 25% to £12.50. A pint of lemon and lime cost £4.15 and a small lemonade was £2.95. I know that energy bills are going up, delivery costs too but it's far too much for us to pay now. We won't be going back. A shame because it's a lovely pub with friendly staff.....
Are you finding that your favourite eating places are putting up their prices? Are you having to cut down or cut out?
Thanks so much for popping in and please be safe wherever in the world you happen to be x
April Food Budget: £69.82 /£200.00
Everything is more expensive these days, and not by a few pence, our shop in Ludi was way more than we normally pay.
ReplyDeleteSeems a Lot to pay, but it is nice to eat out now and then, and the battered fish looked so delicious I could have eaten it off the screen!!
ReplyDeleteGoodness...the food not so bad but those drinks! x
ReplyDeleteWe don't eat out all that often but prices do seem to have rocketed. It is a shame when it stops you going to an otherwise lovely pub to eat. Hope you find somewhere local that suits you better x
ReplyDeleteWe don’t eat out much anymore but I would still go..I tend to only get water and give the dessert a miss....
ReplyDeleteYes, prices have gone up, haven't they? I rarely eat out in restaurants, but, I do order food to pick up and bring home to eat. Usually, I don't buy anything to drink when I do that and, unless it is a very special occasion, I don't get dessert, either. Maybe, next time, have lunch at home and go out for dessert? Or, order only an appetizer and dessert? You'd still get the experience of going out. :)
ReplyDeleteYep, eating out has gotten very expensive unless one is in to fast food. We have decided that our meals will be brunch once a month as that is still reasonably priced.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I was watching a programme about the price rises in restaurants on tv last night, and unfortunately it's their rising costs that they are having to pass on to the customer. I guess there's only so long that any business can keep the same prices for when the wholesale costs have shot up so steeply. I can foresee a lot of places having to close due to lack of custom and even more people out of a job. It's a sad situation all round isn't it.
ReplyDeleteI think maybe we will just eat out less than normal but still try to support some of our favourite smaller places.
My local cafe has increased it's prices on my usual coffee and two slices of toast and butter by 46%. We are trying out other places but really regret the 'old' place has become too expensive.
