Bloomin' Broadband

We have had no phoneline or broadband service for over 6 weeks now.  The box ( no idea what it's called) has been in place in the under stair cupboard since day one. We have made a myriad of calls to BT placing an order, chasing the order, querying why it's taking so long etc. We have spoken to people in the UK as well as India, men from Open Reach have been in to look at the box and shake their heads in disbelief that we STILL have no connection.  According to them the set up is spot on and connection shouldn't be a problem.  I never thought that I would miss the internet so much but I haven't been able to read my fave blogs, research prices or services, and it has cost me a fortune to make necessary calls on my mobile phone. GET A MOVE ON BT!
I can use the computer at the library but can't always get there when I need to and the question is " how safe is it to conduct business there? "  Ok, I'll step down from my soapbox now....

One thing I am really missing from no longer living in the park home is having people to talk to on a daily basis.  Our neighbours are all young, out at work all day and invisible by night.  I have met just 3 sets of neighbours and that was only because I took in parcels for them during the day.  I think I will need to find something to do, either volunteering or joining a group of like-minded individuals.  The question is where?  Once we get the internet back I can do a search.

In the meantime, stay safe wherever in the world you happen to be x

  1. we had the same issues here when we moved in, no internet for 6 weeks, Virgin had us lost in their systems and we just had to wait for them, frustrating.

  2. How frustrating for you. I do hope it gets sorted out soon.

I never see anyone here either and as we seem to be the only ones in all day we have become the go to parcel drop off. All the couriers and the postman know we are here. I am thinking of charging a fee....lol.

  3. My neighbours are a little odd. They are perfectly pleasant if we speak to them but rarely even acknowledge our presence if we don't.

  5. In answer to your query - No, it isn't safe to use the library computers for certain things, banking in particular. But your passwords can be at risk of being copied so do be aware.
Do you want to borrow my son? When I moved house and was getting all sorts of excuses why I didn't have a broadband connection, he rang BT - and blinded them with science! He shot down all their excuses and told them what needed doing - and it was done within 24 hours!!!! I knew he'd come in useful one day after spending his teenage years tinkering with computers and technical stuff.

    1. What a wonderful chap to have around! Our son is a computer expert too but has lived in Australia for the last 18 years or so and can't be called upon :(. Your experience just proves that these companies have no sense of urgency and need a kick up the proverbial bum nnow and again :)
