A Scald and an Update

Crikey, it was a sharp frost during the night.  Even at 10am this morning I had to de-ice the car windscreen before I could go out.  We have been spoilt up to now and this has come as a shock!

Ashamedly I have to report that I am lagging a bit in my Festive Food Bank challenge but here is the contribution for days 12 to 16
The baby lotion was on offer at just 40p in Sainsbury's (they must be changing the packaging or something) and I would have bought shampoo too (54p) but it had sold out.  I'll try to catch up on the number of items next Monday when we do the 'big shop'......

I seem to be becoming clumsier and more accident prone in my old age and somehow managed to scald my hand with steam from the kettle.  I did it a couple of weeks ago and, boy, did it hurt!  The top skin came off after a few days leaving a raw red mark and only now has it faded a bit.  If my hands get cold a purple mark now appears where the scald was.  Doh.....

It's going cold outside again now and it's already quite dark by 4pm in the afternoon.  I hate these short dark days, do you?

Thanks for popping in.  Stay safe and warm x

  1. Ouch that looks very sore, I know what you mean about getting clumsier, the big knife slipped the other day whilst cutting veg and I don't know how I got away with not cutting the tip of my finger off, the knife obviously wasn't sharp enough, it didn't even bleed.
The days are dark and dismal, really don't like it, It makes me want to eat too much comfort food xx

  2. Ooh that must have been really painful! I too seem to be getting clumsier as I get older, I'm always burning myself getting things out of the oven, or cutting my fingers when chopping veg.

  3. Oooh ouch, that look painful.

It seemed to get dark really early today, on days like this I never feel like I've fully woken up.

    1. That's a very good tip Sue! Perhaps I should get one from somewhere. I've heard it's good for sunburn too (not that we'll get any sun for a while though):)

  5. The scald looks sore still. I hope it heals soon. I am dreadfully clumsy but have been mishap free for a while now. Having said that I've probably just jinxed myself. The short days can be a bit depressing but on the positive side it means you can draw the curtains and cosy in of an evening. X

    1. It is getting better thanks Jules. Do you know we drew the curtains at 3.30pm yesterday as it was so dark, rainy and dismal. Out came my fleecy blanket to snuggle into!

  6. Och that does look sore, bless you. We woke yesterday to a sharp frost too, but this morning heavy rain. I think I prefer the frost. Take care.

  7. Ouch! That looks sore. We had our first snow here yesterday. Brrr. I've been cold for two days and can't seem to get warm! The days seem so short and dark. It's only mid-November and I'm already complaining!

  8. I have to give myself a good talking to pretty much every day to stop my gloomy mood during this time of the year I've always been the same though I'm a sunshine girl lol. I don't mind the cold crisp days as long as we have a dollop of sun and I can go out for a walk or something. That scald looks sore you poor thing. I think we become a bit uncoordinated as we get older I'm forever bumping into things either that or too much wine lol.

    1. Crisp and sunny is good but it's dark so EARLY now, isn't it Wendy. A warm fire and a nice glass of wine....Oooh that sounds good!
